イングリッシュベルのDMEメソッド、stage4にかかった期間と感想。テキストなしで挑戦中!

テキストなしでも受講できますと公式ホームページにもあるので、予習はせず(出来ず)挑んでいます。GrammarとReadingは飛ばしてもらっています。Stage4が終わったのでその記録を残しておきます。

2nd GR 25レッスン/13日

  GR: general review;stageの総復習。 2nd GR: Stage1~4の総復習。

基本的に1日2レッスン=50分やりました。

Stage 4の感想

Stage4となり、ほぼ講師は固定されてきました。土日は競争率が高く、希望の予約が取れないこともありました。8時とか8時半とかになった瞬間に1週間後の予約枠が現れるので、ブラウザを更新して予約しますが、たまに「タッチの差で予約をお取りできませんでした」と悲しいことを言われます。

長い文章が増えてきました。相変わらず冠詞は正しく言えません。厳しめの講師には「No "a"!!」と言われます。厳しすぎても続けるのがつらくなるのでニコニコした先生も織り交ぜています。たまにゆっくりしゃべる先生もいるので早口の先生を選ぶようにしています。

It's a good idea to~のように言い慣れて得意になった文も出てきました。

レッスンでつまづいた例文

レッスンが進むとテキストがないと厳しいという話も聞きますので、

復習がてら、気になったこと、つまづいたフレーズ(回答)を記載していこうと思います。テキストなしで挑んでいますので、pageは最初にやったときか復習の時か曖昧ですが、目安として書いていきます。私が言いにくかったり、何度も引っかかったりした例文を記録しています。

 

Stage 4 (P57~124)開始!

p57-67

不規則動詞が出てきました。

take-took, understand-understood, find-found, win-won, lose-lostなど。

What are the two opposites of lose? はなぞなぞみたいなおしゃれな質問じゃないですか?

答えはwin and find.

 

When (If) we are on a high mountain, we can see (we usually have) a fine view of the valley below. (講師によって少し違った)

Why/How? とyes/noを聞く質問も出てきました。

We make a cup of coffee by putting some coffee into a cup and filling it with hot water.

 

We cook soup by filling the pot with water and adding (some)meat and vegetables.

Meatは不可算名詞なのでsは付かない。(some)は講師によってついたりつかなかったり。

 

Yes, I usually get you when you speak about grammar

Yes, I got what you said about must and have to.

質問の意味がすぐに理解できませんでした。Get人=understandで使われていました。 

 

 p67-69

People must not refuse to help friends when they are in need.

 Must not refuseの意味がすんなり理解できずてこずりました。読めばわかるんですけどね。Refuseが否定的な意味のイメージなので、さらにnotがつくと自分の中では二重否定にみたく感じて混乱してました。

 

仮定法が出てきました。条件節+未来形

We use the first conditional when we think it’s possible that an action will happen in the future.

 

Such asをこんな風に使って話したことがなかった。

I like watching such TV programs as comedy.

I like such books as novels.

 

p74-77

Hate inside peopleがすぐに理解できなかった…

There is so much hate inside some people because (ex. They have bad experience in the past)

When we want to ask about person’s age, we use the question “how old are you?”

The average student finishes school at the age of 22 in this country.

 

 主語が長い

The average age of children starting school in this country is six.

The average age of people getting married is higher than in the past.

 

いきなりtaxとか共和国とは何かと言われても…

Tax is the money that we must pay to the government.

 

We have to pay VAT on clothes.    VAT: value add tax 

A republic must have a government.

 

p77-79

Could you~~?に対し

 Could means the past of can in this sentence.

  Could means impossibility. と答えるところがあり。ちょっとよくわからないまま進んでしまった。

 

文法を説明するのは初回はムリ。

We use the present perfect for an action in the past with a result now.

We make the present perfect by using have or has and the past participle.

 

p80-83

この型は何度か出てくる

The verb forms of 動詞 are 原型-過去形-過去分詞。areをisとよく言い間違える。

Ex. The verb forms of speak are speak, spoke, spoken.

Middle of the night

Left hand, right handの言い方に慣れない

People don’t drive on the left hand side of the road in Holland. But they drive on the right hand side. (Hollandだったか怪しいが)

 

More often thanは使えそうなフレーズ

Girls cry more often than boys.

Put/take 名詞 on/off が言い慣れない。

We should put the plug in and turn the tap on when we want to fill the bath with water.

We should turn the tap off when the bath is full.

We should take(pull) the plug (off) when we finish taking a bath.

 

p89~95

また文法の説明文。これはよく聞かないと覚えられない…

We use the present perfect when an action starts in the past and it is still happening (now).(前に出たのとは違う定義)

 We use “for” to say how long an action has happened.

We use “since” to say when an action started.

質問文:We learnt “happen”. What did “happen” mean?

いきなりhappenの意味はと言われてもtake placeは出てこなかった

→The word “happen” meant to take place.

 

p95-97

副詞の位置がこんがらがる。まずいという意味のファァォは結構出てくる。

Medicine doesn’t usually taste good. It usually tastes foul.

 

p99-102

A high temperature

See a doctor じゃなくて例文はgo to the doctorのようだ

When I think I’ve got the flu I should go to the doctor.

Helpの文法って難しい

I would help you carry this table.

help you to carry the tableも成り立つがtoがあるとその過程に注目し、

toなしは最後まで運ぶという結果に着目

presentとpleasant

A bottle of perfume is always a nice present.

People wear perfume because they want to smell pleasant.

Optimisticの説明

 To be optimistic means to hope that good things will happen.

 

p102-107

Againの発音、アゲインじゃなくてアゲンと教わった。

Cambridge Dictionaryだと イギリスは/əˈɡen/ or/əˈɡeɪn/でアメリカは/əˈɡenとあった。
